Why I Became an Advocate

Witnessing the impact of breast cancer on individuals, families, and communities and the difference in access to care dependent upon healthcare coverage motivated me to become an advocate.   Realizing the number of resources invested in cancer research, treatment, and support, yet the recognizing the isolation of information, lack of coordination, and inequitable access that exists encouraged me to take advantage of opportunities to become involved in activities that can make a positive impact towards finding a cure that is accessible to all.

Specialized Advocacy Training and Advocacy Interests

  • National Breast Cancer Coalition’s Project LEAD- Graduate 2010
  • Advocacy Interests:
    • Increase access to the participation of minorities in clinical trials, including the design of the trial, through education.
    • Equity and affordable access to care/treatment for everyone.
